Brendan Woodhouse, a Nottinghamshire Firefighter & rescuer of asylum seekers seeking refuge by travelling across the Mediterranean in precarious and unsafe boats, who has recently received an award from his union, the Fire Brigades Union for this work, will be guest speaker. He will talk about his harrowing volunteering work and the lives of people fleeing appalling conditions. He will be joined by representatives of Nottingham Care 4 Calais, Stand Up to Racism, and the National Education Union (NEU) working with asylum seekers locally. Come also to meet and hear from local asylum seekers and those now granted refugee status about what they have been through.
